Prayer is the breath of faith. It is faith breathing. One prays because one believes. Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). Jesus, to encourage us to pray, said, "Ask, and it will be given to you seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened" (Matthew 7:7-8). Here is the potential of prayer.

Prayer starts from believing and trusting God to give us the good things which He wills for us. Prayer starts with believing that God is not against us, but rather He is unquestionably for us! If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things (Romans 8:31-32)? When this faith breathes it comes out in prayer. It comes out in conversation with our heavenly Father, our Lord, and the Holy Spirit. In these intimate conversations they come out in requests, thanksgivings, and freely pouring out our hearts to Him who cares for us. He hears us and in response pours out the appropriate grace, strength, providential circumstances, and good things which we need. So pray!
